God Made All the Impossible Possible
BUENAMER BOKINGKITO JR.
Who would have thought that I’d be able to come to USA amidst the pandemic? He made it possible for me. He can also make it possible for you.
Looking back, I have practiced my teaching profession for over 13 years in Public Schools. I hurdled a lot of challenges and learned from life’s experiences that helped me become a person I am now. But I couldn’t say I’ve already reached my full potential. I feel that there’s something in me that I have to fulfill and that has been my American dream.
One day, I was invited to apply for a teaching job online. At first, I was so hesitant because I got so many questions in my mind. But one thing is for sure, if God would let me travel or work to different countries, then I would choose USA because that idea is clear enough to satisfy my goals in life. As I went into the application process, I was able to send three applications to different schools even if I was uncertain as to what’s going to happen or how to go about it.
Fortunately, I have a very supportive, understanding and patient mentors in the person of Ms. Julie Ann Hejl and Ms. Hazel Zambas who believed in my capabilities as a teacher. They never failed to update us from time to time through iTeach orientations. After days of applying and attending orientations, one day to my big surprise, I got a job interview invite from the most recent school that I applied for. It was a great feeling to finally get invited to a job interview, and all I could say to myself was, "Oh, this is it!" Then, I prepared for an online interview and woke up at 2:00 AM. The interview went well.
I got my job contract on April 17, 2021 for the Kindergarten position and signed it on the same day. You think that was all the process and it was all that easy. After successfully completing the job interview and signing the job contract, the real struggles started. To make the story short, I had some missing documents that needed to be submitted urgently, otherwise, it would delay my visa application. Zamboanga City, another city that was very far from where I live, opened the door for me so I could obtain a very important document that needed my personal appearance amidst the pandemic. Then a series of processes came after - tons of paperwork to comply and to complete. It took me a while to complete it but was able to finish it in the right time. It was all God's timing indeed to make impossible things possible.
When it was time to leave home, it felt like a big part of me was taken away - the feeling of leaving my family behind was hard. I never imagined that I had to leave them for so long just to fulfill my dreams. But on the second thought, this is my dream to provide a better future for my family. It was a mixed of emotions. It was never easy, but I managed myself not to be overwhelmed by emotions. Instead I let Him lead the way on what I need to do. I am not used to saying goodbye, and since it will be my first time, I just tried to hide the pain of leaving them for now. I gave my family a warm embrace instead. The rest of the family was there also when I was about to leave home. I saw all my nieces, nephews and cousins - they made sure that I won’t make a dramatic scenario while leaving them. LOL My wife has been very supportive. She even traveled with me to Manila and stayed there for three days, but eventually we had to go on our separate ways - she had to go back home and I had to travel to USA on that same day.
Fast forward to now, it's been a while now that I left my home-country. The journey has never been easy but along the way you'll realize what matters most and what you are driven for. This American dream is not always about the money as others may think. Our goals may be different from one another. But what is important is you'll find happiness in whatever drives you to better yourself and the lives of your loved ones.
Indeed, God is so good that He does mighty things the moment we surrender all our cares to Him. Just keep that faith burning in you for in the right time you’ll harvest the fruits of your labor. He is our God who makes all the impossible possible.
